The Charlevoix Area Community Pool offers a variety of swim lesson options for children and adults.
Tuesday/Thursday Group Lessons!
Enrollment is now open for the next session of group swim lessons beginning Tuesday, February 11.
The local school group lessons start Thursday, February 6, which will cause scheduling changes. Please check back for updates!
To enroll, the child must be able to work in a group and follow directions given by the instructor(s).
The schedule on the bottom right shows the next class schedule. If nothing is listed, we have not scheduled the next series of group lessons.
Skill evaluations happen during the second to last class of each session.
*We may open overflow classes if enough people are on the waitlist. Waitlists do not carry over to the next session's class.
Pre-registration is required, as classes have limited capacity. Register online, at the Pool, or by calling (231) 547-0982.

- $74 Non-District (All Others)

Private / Semi-Private Lessons
Lessons are 30-minute, one-on-one instruction. Time is dependent on student and instructor availability. Contact us to be placed on the private lesson waitlist by emailing info@charlevoixpool.org or call the Pool at (231) 547-0982.
Pricing For Residents:
Residents of or Property Owners in Hayes Township, Charlevoix Township, or the City of Charlevoix.
- Private Lesson: $37 per lesson, or $146 for 5-pack
- Semi-private, 2 People (of same skill level): $55 per lesson, or $219 for 5-pack
- Semi-private, 3 People (of same skill level): $73 per lesson, or $293 for 5-pack

Class Level Descriptions
Infant/Toddler
Water adjustment, water entry, front kick and glide, submerging (up to the mouth, nose, eyes, and completely), buoyancy on front and back, arm movements front and back, plus parent safety and use of personal flotation device. Non-toilet-trained children must wear a "Little Swimmer" diaper.
6 months - 2 1/2 years. The parent must be in the water with the child.
Preschool
A swimmer's first class without a parent in the water. This 30-minute class works on basic skills for swimmers ready to be in the water without a parent. Swimmers will continue working on water adjustment, emphasizing on floating and kicking with support. Swimmers will learn to blow bubbles through their mouths and nose and engage in full-face submersion.
Level I
In this 30-minute class, swimmers will begin bobbing, opening eyes under the water, and retrieving submerged objects. Swimmers will work on front and back floats and finning. Swimmers will continue working on water adjustment, emphasizing breath control, beginning independent swim strokes, and sculling on the back.
Level II
This 30-minute class continues work on rotary breathing and prone and supine floats. Swimmers will begin working on the front and back crawl. Swimmers will fully submerge and hold their breath.
Level III
This class increases swimming competency and teaches personal safety and rescue skills. Class skills include: buoyancy skills, breath control, front crawl, elementary backstroke, back crawl introduction, turns, and water entry and exit. Swimmers will also work on sitting, kneeling, and standing dives and rotary breathing.
Level IV & V
Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards. Continuation of floating and sculling skills. Introduction to standing front dive, rotary breathing, front crawl and back crawl, and treading water. Begin techniques for breaststroke, sidestroke, and familiarization with rescue breathing.
Adult Stroke Development
Available Upon Request
Workouts designed with the beginner, intermediate, and advanced swimmer in mind. Practice sessions offer a physical challenge and an opportunity to work with peers who share common interests and goals.
