Swim School Coordinator/Lifeguard. Posted 3/21 

30-40 Hours a week: Saturdays required

Position Description: The Swim School Coordinator works with the pool staff, students, parents and the swim coach as part of the pool team to help ensure that the team meets its objectives. Primary job functions are to provide and coordinate all swim instruction, swim school, and related activities for patrons at the Charlevoix Area Community Pool (CACP) in a safe learning environment. The candidate will learn to use our pool software MindBody and also lead multiple instructors working with him/her. The Swim School Coordinator should be familiar with all the educational programs offered by the CACP and have strong swimming skills. Note primary duties listed below. This person will be required to work Saturdays and possibly some Sundays.

 

Employees must meet the minimum requirements, conditions of employment, and be able to successfully perform all essential duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.

 

Qualifications: Candidates should feel comfortable working with children and have a basic understanding of swimming strokes. Ideal candidates would have past competitive swimming experience, swimming instruction experience and/or lifeguarding experience and have worked with children. A candidate with any of the following certifications will be highly considered: Lifeguard Training, CPR, First Aid and AED certifications, Teaching Certificate. We anticipate that any candidate hired will receive future training as follows: Water Safety Instruction, Lifeguard Instructor, and Certified Pool Operator certification.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: (may include but are not limited to the following)

  • Schedule and instruct swim skills and water safety to patrons of all swimming abilities.

  • Assist with scheduling and instruction of school group lessons and water safety sessions.

  • Coordinate Saturday Group and private-lesson instructors and enrollees to ensure optimal use of pool time and space; as well as ensure continuity in teaching methods.

  • Promote a safe, welcoming community-oriented facility and answer all lesson inquiries in a timely manner.

  • May be required to work as a lifeguard and cover desk shifts.

  • Ensures the safety of all patrons and self by observing and supervising swimmers; enforcing and abiding by water safety rules, policies, and regulations.

  • Report any maintenance issues and assist in repairing if able.

  • Assist in cleaning and maintaining of the facility.

  • Assist in orientating and training new staff.

  • Prepare and maintain applicable records.

  • Open and close the facility in accordance with opening and closing procedures.

  • Be an engaged member of the pool team!

 

The mission of the Charlevoix Area Community Pool is to provide a wide range of aquatic programs promoting health, fitness, recreation and water safety.  The Pool is focused on providing programs that meet the changing needs of area children and adults through a safe, professionally managed aquatic facility that is affordable and accessible to all. We strive to be the best aquatic fitness and recreation resource in the area. The Pool is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.

CACP Stingray Swim Coach Wanted   CURRENT 5/21

Part-Time- Monday to Friday with Saturdays and some Sundays Required

 

Position Description:  The Charlevoix Area Community Pool (CACP) swim coach works with pool staff, youth and parents as part of the pool’s team to ensure the successful meeting of its objectives for a competitive swim team.  Primary job functions are to coach and coordinate team and individual workouts based on each swimmer’s needs and ability in a safe learning environment.  The swim coach should be familiar with all programs offered by the CACP and have strong swimming skills.  While swim practices are during the week (usually in the late afternoons and early evenings) the swim coach will be required to work Saturdays and possibly some Sundays when there are swim meets.

 

Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have past competitive swimming experience, recent swim team coaching experience, as well as experience coordinating recreational swim meets.  Good communication skills and etiquette are required.

 

Candidates should exhibit behaviors when working with youth that is age-appropriate and confidence building.  The candidate should demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of swimming and coaching techniques as well as dryland training.

 

       A candidate with the following certifications will be highly considered:

                     MTSL and USA certification

                     First Aid and AED certifications

                     Life guard training

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: (may include but are not limited to the following)

  • Promote a safe, welcoming, and inclusive community-oriented facility.  Answer all team and parent inquiries in a timely manner.

  • Provide coordination and training for pool and community aquatic events.  MindBody software training will be provided.

  • Ensure the safety of all patrons and self by observing and supervising swimmers, enforcing and abiding by water safety rules, policies and regulations including COVID 19 guidelines.

  • Prepare and maintain all applicable records including incident and disciplinary reports.

  • Provide training to iTRI participating swimmers.

  • Develop and organize Venetian swim meet and provide training to swimmers.

  • Report any maintenance issues and assist in repairing if able.

  • Assist in maintaining a clean facility.

  • Open and close the facility in accordance with opening and closing procedures.

  • Report directly to the pool’s Facility Manager.

  • Be an engaged member of the pool team!
