Pool Signs Agreement

Charlevoix Area Community Pool signs agreement with Recreational Authority

The Charlevoix Area Community Pool (CACP) recently signed an agreement with the Recreational Authority for the ongoing disbursement of authorized tax revenue to the pool, a 501c 3 non-profit organization. The Recreational Authority is made up of representatives from three municipalities: the City of Charlevoix, Hayes Township, and Charlevoix Township. The duty of the Recreational Authority is to assure the collection and disbursement of authorized tax revenue from each municipality to the CACP on an annual basis. CACP is funded by these tax revenues as well as from user fees, endowment revenue, and donations from individuals and grants.

"Our community is so fortunate to have an indoor pool that is open to the public, has low user fees, and provides a wide range of programming for all ages. We are especially glad to see children's swim lessons and water safety classes resume after a hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions," said CACP board president Christine Abbey.

Mark L. Heydlauff, Charlevoix City Manager and Chairman of the Recreational Authority commented, ”The Recreational Authority is pleased to have reached an agreement with CACP for public pool services. Our pool is a benefit for anyone seeking exercise, recreation, water safety, and youth sports. We are pleased to work closely with the CACP going forward to ensure this asset continues to serve the entire community.”

The pool continues to offer discounts to residents of the three municipalities on all pool services including aquatic exercise classes, swim lessons, lap swim, and general pool use. For more information, visit www.charlevoixpool.org or contact pool manager Kathy Klimas at 231-547-0982.
